What is Elliston Veda?

Elliston Veda acquires established businesses. We are a privately owned acquisition company, founded in the West Midlands and acquiring across the UK. When we acquire a business, the sellers already have something that works, which typically includes a strong team, good reputation, and a defined spirit of the company. That is what we respect, and what we remain loyal to, our name is built on mutual respect and continued growth.

That’s the whole point. Business is what we make it, and for us it means we are not here to strip out any business to sell on in a few years. We acquire when it makes sense, and we are very selective in who we work with, there is no rush for us to do our business, as we are in it for the long term. Typically that means we look for established profitable businesses, £1.6m to £10m in enterprise value.

Why we buy what already works

Most owners did not build their business to watch it disappear, if anything you spent years earning the trust of the customers, training the staff, and making a local name for yourselves. A buyer who treats all of that as just a number destroys the very thing that made the business valuable in the first place. We believe differently: the people, the brand, and the trust that was built are reasons a good business works. Respecting that is not just a sentiment to us, it’s what Elliston Veda is.

Why the buyer matters as much as the price

When selling a business, the numbers matter, as does what happens the day after completion, when the business is fully acquired. Getting what may seem to be a strong offer from a ‘wrong’ buyer could still translate to jobs not being kept, lost branding, customers not being satisfied. We have seen it happen with others, and that’s simply not us. The scenario happens more than you realise, a different buyer promises to keep staff, the name, the everything and then it’s all gone within weeks of acquisition.

That is why the buyer matters just as much as the investment. That’s also why we do our best to assist the seller in understanding as much of the process as they need so they remain informed at all times. If you want to see what questions are worth asking any buyer (and Elliston Veda) then read our article on ‘Telling a serious buyer from a time-waster‘.

One person with the authority to make the decisions that matter.

From the first conversation all the way through to completion, you communicate with the same person to understand what you’re looking for. That person is the one in the photo above, and that’s all the way through from the first message to the final signature. No call centre transfers, no waiting to hear from different managers, no chains. Everything we discuss remains fully confidential whatever you decide to do, and our conversation remains between us.

Where we will be straight with you

We would rather tell you clearly where we stand than dress it up. Elliston Veda is entering into our acquisitions phase, built on the foundation of experience we have in running businesses, inspiring strong teams, and the business acumen we’ve had for over 2 decades. That is what Elliston Veda is, it’s the company that openly and fairly brings in real insights, clarity, financial and tax expertise into each deal for the seller just as much for ourselves.

What we offer to business owners like you is real: a clear and confidential conversation, honest reasoning on what your business is worth and why, the experts behind us, and straight answers at every stage including “no”. Our credibility comes from how we do what we do, not from a curated portfolio designed to impress you, but from real honest conversations that align our values together.

Straight answers

What happens to the staff? A business is only as good as its people, and we acquire a business to build the strongest teams. We’re loyal to what matters and our values, and we will openly discuss any concerns you may have before making any agreements. The law also protects employees when a business changes hands, there’s more about this in our post on what happens to your staff when you sell.

Do I have to stay on after the sale? There will usually be a handover after completion, and it works best when it is shaped around your plans rather than ours. Some owners want a clean break, some want a phase-out Whatever that looks like for you, it’s all part of the agreement during discussions.

Is it really confidential? Yes all communication is confidential from the first email, phone call, or meeting in person. Whether we decide to acquire your business or you decide not to, we do not discuss any private confidential information. We are open to work under an NDA (a non-disclosure agreement) from the outset if you wish.

What will a conversation achieve? Everything from clarity, understanding the process, and importantly knowing what your options are. You can book a free discovery call here, and it’s where we help business owners understand how it all works, no obligation. Owners often start these conversations months or years before they are ready.

How do I know an offer is fair? We’ll run you through the exact process we used to come to our numbers with full transparency, we always explain things in as much detail as you wish. If you have questions, talk to us directly so we can give you an answer directly too.

Got any other questions? Let’s talk, as there’s only so much you can share on a short article. We want to share more so that we answer all your questions. You can solve this now by getting in touch, a first conversation costs nothing and has no obligations.

Email office@ellistonveda.com or book a free discovery call. Everything we discuss remains private and confidential.
